THE PATRIOT
ReplyDeletelines of men
crisp, proud, strong
always ready
prepared to sacrifice themselves
to protect the gates of a world
where the rest of us
the protected
work to build a world
where those gates are not needed
and they can grow old
with their children
there is something circular here
there is something mysterious
something that has to do with human nature
but at a level I cannot comprehend completely
so each of us stands in our own lines
and does what we have to
